Fact: Motivation levels are different in different people. Some people seem to be highly motivated most of the time. But before you think you are one of those people with low motivation think again. Generally we are motivated by things that matter to us, by the things we value, that are meaningful and purposeful to us. Those people who are highly motivated often have a very compelling reason to be motivated; the more compelling the reason the higher the motivation. For most people it is a matter of finding out what it is that compels them and motivation will follow.
When a devastating circumstance comes unexpectedly in your life, it can make you question and wonder. What is missing though – your passion? You can look for get inspired in the world and find it everywhere, but will it ever be enough to get back what you lost?
For the advanced student in inspiration, try going beyond being a consumer of the arts to becoming a producer. Can you write a book, or even a couple of short stories? Can you write a song? Can you make a new recording of one of your favorite songs, with yourself on lead vocal? Can you create an inspiring painting? Can you get cast in a play, or even make a movie?
There would be no flu shots to prevent the flu, there would not be a vaccination for the mumps (which by itself is a deadly disease) nor would there be simple over the counter medicine. Need a cough drop? Nope, nobody was really inspired to invent it.
Studies have proven that the ability of money to provide motivation is very limited. It is only motivating people when they have a relatively small, simple task to perform over a short period of time. The more complex and long term the task is, the less money will be a true motivation factor.
The first type of motivation is call Away From (AF) motivation and the source of energy and drive is derived by the fact that you want to be away from something.
Stare deep into the flame and try and silence any thoughts and dialogue happening in your head, the less noise there is in the background the better. Then focus your thoughts on nothing, just blank empty space. Try and completely empty your mind from any thoughts at all, just concentrate on the flame. Do this a few minutes a day and your concentration and focus will improve.
Inspiration can move mountains and make you do something that you believed was not doable. It can make you and its absence can break you. Learn to tap into your mind and utilize its energy reserves to show the world what you are capable of.
